Interval Quality

While an interval's number tells us the distance between 2 notes with letters, the interval's quality refines the description.

Major intervals include 2nds, 3rds, 6ths, and 7ths.

Minor intervals are 1 halfstep smaller their major counterparts.

Perfect naturally applies to unison, 4ths, 5ths, and octaves.

Augmented applies to 4ths and 5ths that are larger by 1 halfstep.

Diminished applies to 4ths and 5ths that are smaller by 1 halfstep.
