Half Steps & Whole Steps

Half steps and whole steps are the smallest building blocks in music theory. Scales, intervals, chords, and key signatures are built from a specific arrangement of half steps and whole steps.

In Europe, the term whole "tone" and half "tone" is used, rather than "steps". At MusicRooster we'll continue with the term "steps".
